Meet our goofy little potato, Jack. Jack Russet is a goofball and LOVES playing with toys, playing fetch and just running around the yard. He gets so excited for walks and will ask to go out as soon as you go in his kennel. Jack's previous family can no longer care for him, so he finds himself here at the shelter, where everything is a bit overwhelming. Jack is a sweet boy who wants to be loved, but just needs some time to trust you. In his previous home, Jack was happiest when he could spend as much time as possible with his favourite human, he can feel a little uneasy with visitors to the home & is nervous of strangers to begin with. Once you've earned the honour of having Jack's trust, you will be rewarded with gentle hand kisses as he asks for more pets and head scritches! His puppy-dog eyes will win you over in a heartbeat, and you'll find yourself not being able to say no to his every want and desire! On top of his adorableness, Jack has quite the repertoire of tricks; he knows 'play dead', 'roll over', 'spin', and 'high-five'! What a smart boy! Jack has lived peacefully with a kitty before, so would likely be okay with a cat friend in the home, after slow introductions. He has also met other dogs whilst here at the shelter and gets on well with them too.Jack is looking for a quiet, adult only home, with a guardian who can work with him to grow his confidence and his trust in strangers and visitors to the home. He would do best in a detached home with a yard to work on his impulse control. Jack has previously shown some resource guarding, particularly of his favourite humans. He will benefit from desensitization training to make him feel more confident with strangers, handling, and vet visits. Jack will also need to follow a weight-loss diet.
