Looking to bring the melodious songs and vibrant colors of finches into your home? These charming birds make delightful companions, particularly if they're the only feathered friends in your household. When considering adoption, it's essential to understand their specific care needs. Providing a spacious cage with plenty of room for flight and perches is crucial, along with a balanced diet of finch seed mix, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Finches are social creatures, so they thrive when they can be together. Ideally we'd like to find a home for all five finches in our care, but would be happy if they went in groups of two or three! Enrich their environment with toys and natural branches, and ensure regular cage cleaning and veterinary check-ups to maintain their health. With a quiet, draft-free environment and dedicated care, finches can bring joy and beauty to your home for years to come.Do you think you could be Hyacinth's person? Here are some ways to find out: 1.) Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Tuesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or 2.) Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs.
